Asha Mukherjee (Dubey) is a Former Professor in Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Comparative Religion at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, India, and was Chair and Dean of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, taught at Visva-Bharati for four decades having a PhD from University of Rajasthan (1983). She was a Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellow (1984-85) at Indiana University, US, and a Visiting Professor at several foreign and Indian universities. She is on the editorial board of several national and international journals. In addition, she is a member of the Advisory Council for Research in Value and Philosophy (CRVP) in Washington.  

Her expertise includes logic, analytical ethics, applied ethics, Jaina and Buddhist philosophy, religious studies, and gender studies. She has published several edited books and journals, over 100 articles, and book chapters.

Besides an academic career, she occupied several administrative positions, for example, two terms as Vice-Principal of humanities and Social Sciences, Founder Director, Women’s Studies, and Registrar (in-charge) Visva-Bharati. Currently, she is engaged in interdisciplinary work on Global Ethics, Peace Studies, Living Religion, Feminist Thought, eco-environmental, social dimensions, and creativity.
